Scientists at MIT, Caltech, and Harvard University have observed a star swallowing a planet for the first time ever. The process took place about 12,000 light-years from Earth in the Aquila constellation and was about the size of Jupiter. The death of the planet was originally observed in May of 2020, however, it took about a year for the team to fully analyze and understand what was witnessed.
