Russia has just tested a missile unlike anything else in the world — a nuclear-powered, nuclear-armed cruise missile with what Vladimir Putin calls “unlimited range and unpredictable trajectory.” It’s called the 9M730 Burevestnik, or “storm petrel” — a bird that’s said to appear before a storm. And this missile could indeed be the start of one. NATO calls it the SSC-X-9 Skyfall. In late October 2025, Putin confirmed that Russia had successfully tested the Burevestnik.
