Lawyers with LA Fire Justice say the Eaton Fire, which destroyed thousands of homes in Altadena and Pasadena, was "preventable," blaming the fire on Southern California Edison's equipment.

The utility has noted multiple irregularities, but maintains there is no evidence its equipment sparked the destructive Eaton fire.

Southern California Edison said video evidence had led it to look more broadly at whether its equipment might have been the cause of the deadly blaze.

Edison International’s utility is looking at whether a power line retired in 1971 started the Eaton wildfire as part of a probe into the cause of the blaze that razed more than 9,000 structures.

Southern California Edison (SCE), a subsidiary of Edison International, said on Thursday that it was probing whether its equipment was associated with the ignition of two Los Angeles-area wildfires this year.

SoCal Edison said its findings to state regulars that its equipment may have caused the Eaton and Hurst fires.
