Israeli strikes reportedly kill dozens as Trump pushes for a Gaza ceasefire with Israel's visiting leader — which can't come soon enough for Palestinians, and many Israelis.

President Donald Trump said he would meet again with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Tuesday to further efforts to secure a ceasefire in Gaza following new momentum after a US proposal to temporarily halt the fighting.

The chances of a deal seemed higher when Netanyahu's second meeting with Trump was added to his schedule. Trump said they would talk about the situation in the Gaza Strip. However, Netanyahu quietly left the White House without any breakthrough.

Trump says Israel has agreed to conditions for a Gaza ceasefire and he's urging Hamas to back it, but neither side has committed to anything yet.
