Hurricane Gil weakened into a tropical storm in the eastern Pacific Ocean on Saturday and was not forecast to threaten land.

Tropical Storm Gil forms in the eastern Pacific and isn’t expected to threaten land as it strengthens, forecasters say.

Hurricane Iona was expected to move westward and does not pose any land threat to the Hawaiian Islands, forecasters said.
