Nintendo says it will no longer open pre-orders for the Switch 2 in the United States next week, following the introduction of steep tariffs on exports from Japan. The firm unveiled the much-anticipated console on Wednesday, the same day US President Donald Trump announced his sweeping new global tariffs.

High tariffs on Vietnam and Cambodia have caused Nintendo to push back the preorder date for the Switch 2 as the company assesses market conditions.

On the same day Nintendo unveiled the cost of their latest gaming console, Trump announced widespread tariffs.

Nintendo announced on Friday that its new Switch 2 will no longer be available for preorder next week due to tariff concerns. While the company is unsure when the new preorder date will be, the launch date is currently the same.
