Airbnb does ask its hosts to comply with local regulations, according to the company’s public affairs manager, Alison Schumer, and lists Chicago’s rules on its Help Center page about the city.

So, yes, these new regulations aim to stop this. But I don't think Airbnb should have even let it get to vote. They should have gotten ahead of the "condo problem," long ago.
