Inter Miami have relinquished their option to hold talks with departing Manchester City midfielder Kevin de Bruyne, leaving fellow MLS side Chicago Fire in pole position to sign him should he decide to move to America.

Inter Miami's transfer option for Manchester City midfielder Kevin de Bruyne has expired. Inter had named De Bruyne on the MLS "Discovery" list, meaning they had first refusal among all MLS clubs for the Belgian. But that option has now expired, leaving MLS rivals to compete for De Bruyne's signature.

De Bruyne spoke at length with reporters in the mixed zone after Manchester City’s 2-0 win over Everton in April, relaying a disappointment over the club’s ignorance and him taking the collateral fall in the decision of a new contract following a collective drop-off from the team this season.
