DEIR AL-BALAH, Gaza Strip (AP) — Hamas said Friday it was still reviewing a U.S. proposal for a temporary ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, where 27 people were killed in new Israeli airstrikes, according to hospital officials.

Israel appears to be changing tack as pressure mounts to get more aid into Gaza, and may let aid groups operating in the battered enclave take charge of non-food assistance.
Israel also is pressing ahead with a U.S.-backed aid distribution plan in Gaza after the chief executive of the program resigned, saying it wasn’t possible to implement while remaining neutral.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) on Thursday called on civilians in several areas in the northern Gaza Strip to evacuate immediately, saying "terrorist organizations" continue to operate there and so the IDF will expand its offensive there.
