College baseball viewed them as a Cinderella when they captured the NCAA title in their first MCWS appearance in 2016, knocking off No. 1 seed Florida and No. 5 seed Texas Tech along the way. But in the seven NCAA Tournaments since, Coastal Carolina hadn't even advanced past the regionals — until now.

Coastal Carolina is the first team to qualify for the 2025 College World Series after defeating Auburn, 4-1, on Saturday. The Chanticleers swept the Tigers in their home regional to advance.

After falling to Coastal Carolina in extra innings 7-6 Friday night, Auburn baseball returns to Plainsman Park this afternoon for a chance to extend the super regionals one more game. A Tigers win will result in a winner take all game three on Sunday. If Coastal Carolina wins, it will be their first trip to the College World Series since 2016.
