The Alien franchise is so far reaching that it would be difficult for Noah to incorporate all aspects into the new show. Instead, he made the decision to step away from some aspects of the cinematic universe. In fact, in Noah's version of the tale, Prometheus and Alien: Covenant do not exist.

In a few sentences, the new FX series completely changes the parameters of the franchise, introducing a new conflict and new science-fiction tropes.

But Alien: Earth is a ton of fun so far, and part of that fun stems from the fact that this particular xenomorph is not picking off anything one-by-one. It is killing its way through this show like it's got a bodycount quota. Hell yeah.
