Corrections officials are investigating an attempted homicide after a south state prisoner with Sacramento ties attacked two correctional officers Sunday, officials said.

The suspect -- 22-year-old Eduardo Roberto Medina Berumen -- is charged with murder and attempted murder of a peace officer.
