September is bringing a treat for stargazers: a total lunar eclipse. If you’ve ever wanted to see the Moon turn a deep, reddish hue, Sept. 7 is your chance. Visible across Europe, Africa, Asia, and Australia, you don't need much to prepare for this kind of astronomical event, as long as it’s not too cloudy, it's easy to catch from your backyard.

Apart from India, the rare event will also be visible from parts of Europe, Africa, eastern Australia, and New Zealand tomorrow, September 7.

Often mistaken for solar eclipses, a lunar eclipse actually happens when a full Moon passes through Earth's shadow, known as the 'umbra'. Dr Shyam Balaji, an astrophysics expert from King's College London, explained that the eclipse's 'deepest phase' will be visible from Britain at 7.45pm BST, just after the Moon rises.
