Ukrainian President Zelensky is pushing a massive deal for U.S. weapons funded by Europe in what observers call a bid to buy the flighty U.S. President Donald Trump’s dedication.

Trump’s rhetoric may touch a nerve in Moscow, which regards any support of Ukrainian strikes on its soil as a red line.

“No matter what form this takes, the Europeans are going to have to take the lion’s share of the burden,” Vance told Fox News.

The Donbas region in eastern Ukraine has long been contested by Russia, with military aggression forcing 1.5 million Ukrainians to flee over the past decade. Ukraine has consistently rejected conceding Donbas to the Kremlin in exchange for peace, though Trump stressed the need for "swapping of territories".
