Following initial reports from TMZ and People, Costa Rican police have confirmed to ABC News that actor Malcolm-Jamal Warner has died. Warner became a household name when he played Theodore “Theo” Huxtable on the hit sitcom “The Cosby Show” from 1984 to 1992.
“We deeply regret the passing of Malcolm-Jamal Warner at Playa Grande. He was swept away by a strong rip current and died by drowning,” Costa Rica’s volunteer lifeguard association, Caribbean Guard, said in a statement on Monday via Facebook.
“The Cosby Show” alum Malcolm-Jamal Warner has died. He was 54. The Jersey City native, who was best known for portraying Theodore Huxtable on “The Cosby Show,” drowned off the coast of Costa Rica on Sunday, July 20, per ABC News.
