Spencer Carbery of the Washington Capitals has won the Jack Adams Award as the NHL’s coach of the year. The league announced the honor Saturday after members of Carbery's family surprised him with the trophy earlier in the week. Carbery is the first person to be named coach of the year in the NHL, American Hockey League and ECHL.

The National Hockey League announced today that Capitals head coach Spencer Carbery is the recipient of the 2024-25 Jack Adams Award, presented to the head coach "adjudged to have contributed the most to his team’s success” as voted by members of the NHL Broadcasters’ Association.

Spencer Carbery is being celebrated as the top coach in the NHL after contributing to Alex Ovechkin's historic season and the Washington Capitals' turnaround into a playoff contender.
