A new wildfire was reported today at 12:29 p.m. in Los Angeles County. The wildfire has been burning on private land. There is no update on the containment of the fire and its cause has yet to be determined.

California utility company Southern California Edison on Thursday said its equipment “may be associated with” the ignition of the Hurst Fire, which burned alongside the Eaton and Palisades fires during January’s Los Angeles firestorms.

The recent fires in Los Angeles have sparked concerns for residents living in Orange County's high-risk areas, which have seen explosive development in the past few decades.

Southern California Edison (SCE), a subsidiary of Edison International, said on Thursday that it was probing whether its equipment was associated with the ignition of two Los Angeles-area wildfires this year.

Southern California Edison acknowledged Thursday that videos have suggested a possible link between the utility’s equipment and the devastating Eaton Fire in Los Angeles.

The utility company said its equipment may have caused the fire but that an investigation is continuing and that they are cooperating with authorities.
