Detectives in Salt Lake City on Thursday identified deceased airman Ricky Lee Stallworth as the man who murdered Christine Gallegos in 1985.

Christine Gallegos, 18, was killed in 1985 — stabbed, shot, sexually assaulted and left in a Salt Lake City neighborhood.

A DNA sample helped identify the suspect as Ricky Lee Stallworth, a 27-year-old Air Force airman at the time of the murder, police said.
