Hundreds of demonstrators took over MacArthur Park on Tuesday as part of a 24-hour protest against immigration enforcement.

A group of strangers formed the Occupy ICE LA 24/7 protest in early July, and said they’ll remain until immigration raids in Los Angeles come to a halt.

Organizers in New York and other major U.S. cities planned to protest outside ICE detention centers, immigration courts and federal buildings on Monday.

Some of the alleged anti-ICE attackers in Texas had a background of protest arrests, including during the Occupy Wall Street movement and at Texas A&M University.

“When the ICE raids started to become more brutal in L.A., we thought we couldn’t go to the next Fire home game and not recognize what is going on. It didn’t feel right,” says Cubeta.
