Google rolls out a new Drive desktop app for syncing files and photos It's replacing the Backup and Sync and Drive File Stream apps.

Currently there are two desktop sync solutions for using Google Drive – Drive File Stream, which is for business users, and Backup and Sync, which is designed for personal use.

Drive File Stream lets you download and open local files on demand, so all data can stay in the cloud and only transfer to the local hard drives when needed. This frees up disk space.
