Hammonton police, firefighters and EMS personnel responded, and the fire was extinguished. Officials with the National Transportation Safety Board and the Federal Aviation Administration will be investigating the accident, police said. The NTSB said the crash involved two helicopters made by Enstrom Helicopter Corp., the F-28A and the 280C.

A helicopter crash in South Jersey early Sunday afternoon sent first responders from several agencies to Hammonton amid reports of billowing black smoke. The Hammonton Fire Department, along with assisting agencies, responded to an “aviation-related incident” near Basin Road and White Horse Pike, the department said in a social media post.
