Stranger Things has officially entered the pop culture zeitgeist and has a blink-and-you'll-miss-it reference in another iconic show.

The last ever episode of the Netflix series dropped on the streaming platform at 1am UK time on New Year’s Day. But, despite many viewers waiting up all night to watch the two hour conclusion of the Duffer Brother supernatural series, they were met with glitches as Netflix crashed just minutes after the finale aired.

Originally announced back in October, the finale was set to screen in just over 350 theaters across the U.S. and Canada on December 31, 2025, and January 1, 2026. By the time reservations opened in early December, that number jumped to 500+ locations. Now? It’s sitting at 620+ theaters, according to series creators Ross and Matt Duffer.
