Coming off a hard-fought win in Utah, the Devils look to stretch their winning streak to three against Buffalo
Tage Thompson and Noah Ostlund scored 2:36 apart in the closing minutes of the second period, and the Sabres won their fourth in a row with a 5-3 victory over the Flyers.
The Sabres had just lost, 7-4 to the Calgary Flames, falling to 11-14-4 on the season and 2-9-2 on the road. It was their third consecutive loss to start a six-game road trip. Thompson thought the Sabres deserved a better outcome based on how they played, but he also knows the team’s record is hard to ignore.
NEWARK, NJ - The Devils lineup received a shot of life with the return of three key forwards – Jack Hughes, Timo Meier and Arseny Gritsyuk – but it wasn’t enough to outpace the Buffalo Sabres in a 3-1 loss at Prudential Center Sunday night. Jack Hughes, who missed 18 games with a finger injury, scored the lone Devils goal in his return.
