Vinay Prasad will be the next director of the FDA's Center for Biologics Evaluation and Research, after Peter Marks was forced out.

The US Food and Drug Administration has named Dr. Vinay Prasad, a hematologist oncologist, to lead its Center for Biologics Evaluation and Research, the division that oversees vaccines and biologic medicines.

Vinay Prasad, a critic of the Food and Drug Administration, has been tapped as the agency’s top regulator of vaccines, gene therapies and the blood supply.
