The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the federal agency within the Department of Transportation responsible for automotive safety, has opened a new investigation looking into a Ram defect that may not have been remedied by a previous recall.

Ranging from the 1500 to the 5500, the issue potentially affecting nearly 1.2 million trucks traces back to two previous recalls by NHTSA.
