Luis Gil is expected to make his season debut for the New York Yankees on Sunday at Miami after missing four months with a lat strain. The reigning AL Rookie of the Year struck out seven over 4 1/3 innings Tuesday for Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

The Yankees' rotation has been depleted by injuries this season. It started in the spring when star ace Gerrit Cole underwent season-ending Tommy John surgery, and New York has faced a few more blows throughout the year. Starter Clarke Schmidt recently underwent Tommy John surgery as well.

It looks like the Yankees are about to receive a huge boost to their starting rotation, as youngster Luis Gil was terrific in his potential final rehab outing Tuesday night.
