Nine people were killed and one was critically injured in an assisted living home fire in Fall River, Massachusetts, authorities said. Fall River Fire Chief Jeffrey Bacon called the fire at Gabriel House "an unfathomable tragedy.

Authorities identified some of the residents of a Fall River assisted living facility who died due to a large fire on Sunday night. A 70-year-old female and a 77-year-old male will be identified after the next of kin are notified, according to the Bristol District Attorney’s Office.

The owner was indicted in 2012 in an alleged kickback scheme, but the charges were dropped after judges ruled investigators obtained key records illegally, records show.
