Blade Tidwell was called up by the New York Mets according to multiple reports Friday, setting up the Tennessee baseball product to make his MLB debut. Tidwell is the eighth player from the Tony Vitello era to reach the major leagues. He is the second do to so this season, joining Colorado Rockies pitcher Chase Dollander.

Blade Tidwell, the No. 15 prospect in the New York Mets' farm system, is reportedly lined up to make his first big league start against the St. Louis Cardinals on Sunday.

Blade Tidwell is getting the chance he has craved. Tidwell will start the game, and pitching is what he’s best equipped to do. The fourth-year minor leaguer had been willing to crack into the majors any other way, though, and had tried lobbying his way to the big leagues, including through a fun, memorable plea to VP of pitching Eric Jagers.
